Carl was born in New York, New York. He graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in June 1960 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting. Following graduation he served as a supply officer in the US Navy until 1963. From 1963 until 1975 he worked as a CPA in the Washington, D.C. area. He moved to Atlanta in 1975 as the partner in charge of the Atlanta office of Fox and Company, CPA’s. In 1982 he established his own firm, which became Rosenthal & Kaplin P.C. He has been practicing in public accounting for 48 years

Carl is a licensed CPA as well as a registered investment advisor, holding the designation of Personal Financial Specialist (PFS). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) and the Association of CPA Financial Planners. In addition, Carl served as President of Ahavath Achim Synagogue and presently serves on the Board of Directors of Ahavath Achim Synagogue.
